SAMSUNG AUGMENTED REALITY ART GALLERY

In January 2020 I was asked to produce an Augmented Art Gallery installation for Samsung’s Global Conference, held in in Valletta on the island of Malta.

Working with Experiential Agency SMYLE London; I designed an Augmented Reality Art Gallery for the IRL Lounge at the conference showcasing local Maltese Artist’s work, and brought these art works to life digitally using the latest Samsung S10 phones.

2,500 Samsung delegates were invited from over 4 regions to the conference.

We animated characters from local Maltese artist’s portraits and brought the psychedelic wall paper alive to entertain the conference delegates.

We selected local artist’s work to champion local Maltese talent and exhibited a choice of their art in the Samsung Real Life Lounge.

We displayed portraits, figurative characters, sculpture and used the paintings of these artists to create the wall paper and a backdrop to the art gallery.

In the lounge area, we tethered Samsung S10 phones and tablets in situ.  The phones had an inbuilt specially designed AR app installed.

Guests were invited to hover their device over the art work which triggered the augmented reality character to come alive and interact with their environment and the other characters displayed in the gallery.

We created a talking bust for the art gallery installation space based on the art work of local Maltese artist Samuel Sultana.

We brought the bust alive by first taking multiple 2D images of the bust in order to create the 3D animation.
